IIS7 Remote Administration Tool

The following is a guide to installing the IIS7 Remote Administration Tool:

1. To install the IIS7 Remote Administration Tool, you must first download from installation file from the Microsoft Download Website.

 

  

 

2. Click on one of the Download button for the files most appropriate for you as seen in the image below:

 

 

 

 

 

3. Click on the Run button to execute directly from the Microsoft Website or click on the Save button to execute at a later time.

 

 

 

4. Click on the Run button to start the installation process.

 

  

 

5. Click on the Next button.

 

 

6. Click the "I accept the terms in the License Agreement" box and then click on the Next button.

 

 

7. Choose an installation location or accept the default location and click on the Next button.

 

 

8. Click on the Install button to continue with the installation process.

 

 

9. Click on the Finish button to complete the installation process.

 

 

10. Select the Internet Information Services (IIS) 7 Manager from the Start Menu or your installation location from step #7. Once the IIS7 Remote Administration Tool is open, you should see a window similar to the image below:

 

 

11. From the IIS7 Remote Administration Tool window, choose the Connect to Site option in Connection tasks.

 

 

12. Enter your Server name and Site name information. NOTE: The information in the Server name and Site name fields below is provided as an example. These fields should be configured to reflect your actual Server name and Site name specific settings. Contact your Web Host if you are having difficulties with this step.

 

 

 

13. In the fields below you will need to enter your FTF User Admin credentials to authenticate to the IIS7 instance of your Website. NOTE: Contact your Web Host if you are having difficulties with this step.

 

 

14. If you receive this Server Certificate Alert message, just disregard and click on the Connect button.

 

 

15. You can accept the default Connection Name for your site or create a new one depending on your situation.

 

 

16. Click on the Assembly installation boxes as outlined in the image below and click on the OK button to start the installation process.

 

 

17. Click on the Run button to continue with the installation process.

 

 

18. Click on the Run button to continue with the installation process.

 

 

19. Click on the Run button to continue with the installation process.

 

 

20. Once the installation is complete, you will be able to start making administrative changes to the instance of your Website through the IIS7 Remote Administration Tool.
